Mission to pray
Aug 27, 2017
I had a remarkable dream;
My children, Kaila and Conan, and I embarked on a journey up the mountain. The reasons for our ascent were unclear, but we felt a divine calling guiding us. Jennifer joined us, eager to catch a glimpse of her grandfather Victor, should our path cross with his.
The climb was arduous, steep and challenging every step of the way. With her imaginative spirit, Kaila fashioned climbing gear from the materials we had on hand. Having never attempted such a climb before, I felt unprepared, yet determined.
We made swift progress, buoyed by the strength that seemed to flow from a higher power. Though we encountered stunning vistas and luxurious villas along our route, we pressed on, pausing only to rest and refuel. I sensed the kids were tempted to linger, but our purpose kept us focused.
At each stop, I offered prayers, catching glimpses of angels fluttering above, busy in their celestial duties.
Reaching the summit, we took a moment to rest. Ahead lay a daunting path that descended nearly 300 feet, devoid of trees to aid our descent. It appeared insurmountable, yet we were filled with unwavering faith. We had set off early in the day, confident that divine guidance would see us through.
I prayed at every pause, aware of the many spirits that accompanied us along the journey.
With makeshift harnesses fashioned from our supplies, we navigated the steep, barren mountainside, and the descent felt almost effortless.
Finally, we reached our destination—an old, dilapidated resort where we planned to spend the night. Despite its state, it felt like the most wonderful place in the world to us.
While the kids settled in, I stepped outside to pray and gather supplies for our three-day trek back.
My sole purpose upon arrival was to pray. Drawn to a nearby hill close to the resort, I made my way there. I stood in silence, praying as I always do, without any fire or lightning to accompany my thoughts. Looking up, I spotted Uncle Victor soaring high above, surrounded by many others. I called out, "Hi, Uncle!" and saw Jennifer waving from outside the resort.
The reasons for our mountain climb remained a mystery. The secluded spot we reached felt distinct, as if our mission was to pray along the way and together at the summit.
It was an incredible adventure; I truly love hiking. 😊
